It’s been a while. We are living in crazy times.
The effects of the COVID19 Pandemic have had widespread effects on us all. Many are homebound, out of work and getting restless.
The good news? Every day, we see people out and about on the trails of Santa Claus enjoying the freedom, fresh air an exercise they offer. Even today in the rain, several people were seen were taking advantage of the opportunity.
ANNUAL TOWN BANNER SPONSORSHIP
With the “stay at home” order in effect, this project has been put on hold for the moment. As soon as we are given the “all clear” the Santa Claus Volunteer Fire Department will be installing the new banners. Thanks to those who have contributed to this project. TO date it is one of the best fundraisers we have and allows us to provide funding for the trails.
THERE ARE STILL SPACES AVAILABLE STARTING AT $250 FOR A YEAR.

NEW TRAIL SHELTER
You may have noticed a new shelter with a bench along the trail at the Town Hall. Construction is underway my Maddox Industrial Contracting, funded by TOSCI and a donation by the family of David Grundhoefer.
EVEN BIGGER NEWS!
In January the Town of Santa Claus was notified of an award of a grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources that will make substantial improvements to the trails connecting to and within Yellig Park. A new hard surface trail will connect the CLV Yellig Trail to the Yellig Trails through the wooded areas along Ashburn which is currently a graveled trail. The trail through the woods north of Ashburn will also be asphalted. Both additions will be ADA Compliant and a handicap parking area will be installed near the trail entrance on Ashburn. The project is estimated at $181,000. 80% of the funding is coming from the grant and the $30,000 of the balance is being provided by Trails of Santa Claus, Inc.
