TOSCI RECEIVES FIRST GRANT AND SCHEDULES FIRST FUND-RAISER

(Santa Claus, IN, March 14, 2016)

Trails of Santa Claus, INC. (TOSCI) has received its first grant for a “fundraising and awareness mailing campaign” which will be completed later this month to all residents in northern Spencer County. Greenways Foundation, Inc., a charitable trust working to promote the growth, enhancement and use of Indiana greenways, awarded the grant as part of their mission to” help local trails organizations build capacity and local support”.

TOSCI has also scheduled its first fundraiser, a dance from 7:30 – 10:30 PM on Friday, April 15 at the Santa Claus American Legion, Post 242. The Daugherty Brothers, a country band from Booneville, IN, will be performing and all cover charges and raffle proceeds will be donated to TOSCI. The cover charge/ donation at the door is $6 per person.

GreenwaysFoundationLogoJohn Bowen, President of TOSCI, stated “The support for TOSCI from our community and organizations such as the Greenways Foundation has been tremendous. Thanks to Greenways, TOSCI will complete a USPS “every door direct mailing” to all northern Spencer County residents this month; the mailing will distribute information about the trails and solicit funds for TOSCI. Donations from the mailing, combined with donations from the April 15 fundraiser, puts TOSCI in a position to make its first monetary contribution to the Trails project before the end of April. Spencer County residents are excited to be a part of the trails project and even more excited for the opportunity to commute by bicycle in the northern part of the county!”

TOSCI, a non-profit organization, is tasked with closing the gap between funds already committed to build the four biking and hiking trails that will connect various attractions in and around Santa Claus. Currently over 87% of the estimated $10 million has been raised through various state and federal grants and private donations. The Trails Project, when complete, will result in increased tourism, more retail establishments and safe recreational opportunity for residents and visitors.
